Margo
Margo is attractive and professional. She has had three different apartments in less than five years. Every couple of years she decides to change her life's work and applies to graduate school for the new thrust. She has three current applications to various schools. She changes jobs as a result of these changes in focus, but overall, they are better positiions but just don't seem to be the ULTIMATE she seeks. Still, she's afraid that by not settling into one of these pursuits, she'll find herself being passed over for the advancement and security that comes from settling. She talks in terms of a statement of purpose, almost like it's something for a grant application. She is restless, ambitious and competitive (has to win both at work and in relationships). This is the sense in which she might think of herself as "the bitch" type.
Her background is in social work type organizations doing program evaluation or grant applications.
Her relationship with her mother: approach but stay away except for holidays. Her mother was controlling but not horrid. Now, Margo maintains distance enough to make her own decisions which apparently her mother would express strong opinions about otherwise. Her father is just there: he stays out of the relationship between mother and daughter. So, Margo is ultimately a bit like her mother in the control aspects.
Prior to the Finally story, Margo was involved with a young man who she found herself controlling and trying not to. But ultimately she couldn't control him because he died of a kind of cancer that was untreatable. She in some sense thought that if she stayed with him and controlled things she could make him healthy again but she failed -- he died. While it was a quick death, it was too long for her. She is not one to admit her own sense of guilt and shame for her wanting to be done with it all.
